Going back to uni means many things, but one things for sure moving into a new house, means a new oven! Baking in a new oven may not seem like a challenge, but in a student uni house when you can only just make out the dials, I knew it was going to prove slightly difficult to try and not end up with 12 black cinnamon swirls!
I chose to make sticky cinnamon swirls topped with walnuts! Not only did this bake turn our kitchen into cinnamon scented heaven, it brought 6 big smiles to my housemate’s faces!
Having never baked anything like this before, I made up the dough and left it to prove for an hour. I then rolled out the dough and coated it in melted butter, cinnamon and brown sugar before rolling it up into a giant Swiss roll. I then cut out 12 rolls and placed these into the baking tray, before placing them into the oven to bake away.
After my first week back, my uni friends are already excited to be living with me! Let’s see what this week’s bake will bring! In the meantime, get baking these sticky cinnamon swirls, it’s like Christmas has come early!
